UrbanX Group Signs FEED Contract For Its Renewable Diesel Facility in Bakersfield

Oleochem Analytics — UrbanX Renewables Group of Long Beach, based in California, announced June 2 that it has executed its front-end engineering design (FEED) contract with Hyundai Engineering for a renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) biorefinery in California.

The company said it will produce renewable diesel from vegetable oil, fats and waste cooking oils through a proprietary process, and expects to refine 5,300 bbls/day, generating over 75 million g/year of renewable diesel.

Although the exact plant location is yet unknown — UrbanX said it will soon be disclosed — the facility will be in the Bakersfield area.

UrbanX holds a license for Chevron Lummus Global’s patented Isoconversion process developed jointly with Applied Research Associates.

Also partnering with UrbanX is Total-Western, Paramount, a long-standing industrial contractor who will assist with the construction of the manufacturing plant, and IQA Solutions of Long Beach, especially skilled in the refining and petrochemical fields, to provide engineering and design services.
