Imperial to Produce Renewable Diesel at Strathcona Refinery

Oleochem Analytics – Imperial Oil, a Canadian petroleum company based in Alberta, plans to construct a renewable diesel complex at its Strathcona refinery near Edmonton, Alberta, the company said on August 25.

The new complex is expected to produce more than 1 billion litres/year of renewable diesel from locally sourced and grown feedstocks. The project is expected to realize about 3 million tons/year in emissions reductions in the Canadian transportation sector, according to Imperial.

The plant will be the largest renewable diesel manufacturing facility in Canada, according to Brad Corson, Imperial chairman, president and chief executive.

Renewable diesel production is anticipated to start in 2024.
