Vance Halts Biodiesel Production at Pasir Gudang After Fire

Malaysian biodiesel and glycerine producer Vance Bioenergy has halted production at its Pasir Gudang plant in southern Johor state following a fire late last week.

Vance was scheduled to restart operations over the next few days. The company does not expect an interruption in fulfilling orders.

The cause of the explosion is unknown. The company did not respond to calls and an email seeking comment.

The plant produces biodiesel made from palm and used cooking oil (UCO) for the domestic and European markets.

Vance Bioenergy has two biodiesel plants totaling 150,000 Mt/year production capacity and two glycerine refineries producing 40,000 Mt/year of vegetable refined glycerine, the company said on its website.
